QPR Certification
QPR stands for Question, Persuade and Refer, an emergency mental health intervention for suicidal persons created by Paul Quinnett.
This national prevention model is a one-hour training that provides information about three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide. People trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warnings signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. A certified facilitator provides this training, and participants are eligible to receive CEU’s through the QPR institute.
As a QPR-trained Gatekeeper, you will learn to:
Recognize the warning signs of suicide
Know how to offer hope
Know how to get help and save a life
Mental Health Advanced Directives (MHAD)
An MHAD is a document that allows you to make your choices known regarding mental health treatment in the event that your mental illness causes you to be unable to make decisions. In effect, you are making decisions about treatment prior to the time that you may need it. MHAAC provides workshops and individual assistance on how to make an MHAD.
